Ewan Aitken is the former leader of the City of Edinburgh Council in Scotland. An ordained minister of the Church of Scotland and a Labour councillor, he was elected leader of the ruling Labour group in the council and as such leader of the council. He is a member of the Iona Community and the Christian Socialist Movement.
Following the 2007 local elections, the Scottish Liberal Democrat and Scottish National Party groups have agreed a coalition. This will be the first time in 23 years[1] that Labour has not been involved in Edinburgh's city administration.
